A few days ago I released my pattern Aryshire - A Cabled Ponchette. It was part of the Universal Yarns Designer Collaboration, which means that it will be sold by Universal Yarns and by me here (and Ravelry & Patternfish) under A Sarah Grieve Production. The ponchette is knit in the round from the neck down. Then stitches are picked up and knit for the hood. When I was making the sample, I grafted the stitches together for the hood. The cable band is knit and then sewn onto the bottom of the ponchette and around the edge of hood.
The lower edge of the ponchette has a slight asymetrical eding to it - to keep it fresh and trendy! I wanted to create something that you could just pop on and be ready to go out and have fun. I love the idea of the poncho, I just wasn't overly in love with the old-school retro poncho. I wanted something stylish, that you could pair with cute jeans and some nice boots.
You probably recognize the cable detail at the bottom of the ponchette - and you would be correct! It's very much like the cable on the Miss Maggie Slouchy Hat. Universal Yarns did all the tech editing and photography (© Shane Baskin/Blackbox Studios). They were so wonderful to work with!
