Winter Flower Headband

Sometimes wearing fun accessories makes you feel good and I've always had a love for headbands. Perfect to wear indoors and out.They are also a great way to brighten up any day or attire when the dreary days of winter are upon us :)

This sweet headband is a great way to practice new increases. Pattern has M1L, M1R, M1P. There are instructions on how to create your very own embellished, felted flower.

The flower I made in the photo is made from SMC Wash It & Filz It as I had some left overs (a great way to use those pesky guys up!)

Here are the details:

* Diamond Luxury Collection Inca Touch - 2 Balls, Color Shown is #41 Pearl Grey

Or:

210 yards of any feltable worsted weight yarn

 The pattern includes instructions to create your own felted flower, so make sure that the yarn chosen is feltable.

* Knitting Needles: 5.5mm / US9

*2 Buttons

There are 3 sizes but is very adjustable to any size of head.
Head sizes include 18 (20, 22) inches.

New Photos!

David's father, Mark, has been visiting for the last week which has been really nice as David hasn't seen his father in quite some time - a perfect birthday present, if I do say so myself! 

I had the day off today and I roped Mark into taking photos of some of my latest knitting projects. We ran all over the countryside taking "wintery" looking photos. Can't wait to show you!

Ropes Cowl!

I've been doing a lot of custom knitting this year as there have been quite a few people coming into the store and wanting items hand knit for them. One of the patterns at the store that has peaked a bit of interest is Ropes Cowl by Kristina Larson. It's 5 large i-cords attached at both ends to create a cowl using Malabrigo Rasta. I love how the colors in Malabrigo Rasta always look amazing! The nice part about this cowl is that it is such a quick knit using 12mm needles. The lady that ordered this cowl was delighted at the way the colors turned out :)

 

Dark Water Cowl & Hat

I have an affection for yarns that are really thick. I love the way they photograph and show each and everyone of the large stitches. Winter knitting has come in full swing and with that means gifts. I tend to wait far too long until I start knitting my presents - it's as though I think, "If I wait long enough, space-time will shift and the gift will appear from the future or  . . the past .. or something." Well, I have solved that problem. A couple of hours, and the Dark Water Cowl & Hat can be ready for any gifting emergency that you have! This is an easy, super quick knit that only takes one ball of yarn. The hat is knit from the top down on double point needles. Alternately, the hat could be knit on a 40" Circular needle using the Magic Loop technique.

The Binary Shawlette

Today I am very excited to present my latest pattern, The Binary Shawlette that I teased you about here. Originally designed to use 1 skein of Malabrigo Finito, this shawlette started it's life as a 1 skein wonder. But when I started knitting my Binary Shawlette - I just had to keep on knitting with this irresistibly soft yarn. If you haven't knit with this yarn yet, I highly recommend it - you won't be sorry :)  The pattern is written so that it is easily adjustable to the amount of yarn that you have whether it be 1 ball or 4! I've posted additional photos below so that you can see the shawlette's details easier.

* Malabrigo Finito -1 (3, 4) skeins 

 1st Color Shown is #856 Azules, 2nd Color Shown is # 43 Plomo

Pink, Cream and Brown Afghan - Complete!

One of the lovely ladies that come into the store, knits afghans in strips and then I sew them together for her. The afghans are for her granddaughters for Christmas. She does a lovely job creating these heirloom presents - they are sure to be enjoyed for a long time. I just finished the last one and brought it in today. I can't wait to see what colors she does next!

Bumbleberry Beret

I present to you the Bumbleberry Beret. It's a top down, easy to crochet hat. I originally designed this hat for my Beginner Crochet Class as I wanted something that was cute to match the Potentilla - The Crochet Cowl that the students had already made. The hat is using Malabrigo Rios - a superwash merino wool that is quite possibly one of the softest yarns! It could also be crochet from any worsted / aran weight yarn. You can see in the photo that snow just started to fall as I headed outside with the tripod to try and get some photos!

Here are the details:

* Malabrigo Rios -1 Skein, Color Shown is #872 Purpuras

Or:

210 yards of any worsted weight yarn

* Crochet Hooks: 5mm / US8,

                             5.5mm / US9,

                             6mm / US10

The size of the crochet hook will depend on the size of brim you are making.

5.5mm / US9 - 21 Inch Head

6mm / US10 - 22 Inch Head

The main body is worked on a 5.5mm / US9.
